Top 3 Things to Know About Our Commitment to You

Negotiations between the company and Teamsters Local 135 continued late Friday night with the company improving the terms of its earlier offer. Our improved offer includes an enhanced wage proposal and brings skilled-porter jobs into the contract. Here are the top three things you should know about our improved offer which reflect our long-standing commitment to take care of our valued associates.

  • Putting More Money in Associates’ Paychecks
Our improved offer includes a 6% wage increase in year 1 of the agreement. This means Shelbyville associates will continue to be among the highest paid distribution-center associates in the Kroger enterprise.
  • Low-cost, High-quality Healthcare
Our proposal makes NO changes to associate healthcare costs and benefits over the life of the agreement. Despite the rising cost of healthcare, the company is making the financial investment necessary to keep healthcare costs flat for Shelbyville associates.
  • Prioritizing What’s Most Important to You
Thank you for sharing your feedback. Because what’s important to you is important to the company, we’ve enhanced our proposals to continue taking care of our associates.

    • Maintains your 40-hour guarantee
    • Makes the current attendance policy part of the contract
    • Merges the Bus Driver and Checker positions into the contract
    • Bring Skilled-Porter jobs into the contract
This means Pallet Porter, Skybox and Sweeper/Scrubber jobs will no longer be outsourced.

It’s important to note, this improved offer is contingent upon the parties reaching a tentative agreement before contract expiration.

We’re Focused on You
The company’s improved offer delivers on our goals for this negotiation as we remain focused on you, our valued associates. We have improved our proposals to address the issues you’ve shared. We hope you agree our actions during these negotiations demonstrate our good faith effort to work together to reach an agreement that associates will want to ratify.
